You may have heard about the test of the UK emergency alert system in the UK which is to be tested on April 23rd. This is an alert which will pop up on compatible 4G and 5G phones which are on and not in airplane mode; if your phone is turned off there is no emergency signal.

There is no need to be on data or wifi, no apps to download. Your phone will simply receive a broadcast message from the nearest phone mast. They don’t know who you are, where you are or your phone number.

Alerts in Wales will be in both Welsh and English
