The group meets fortnightly at St Edward’s Church, Blenheim Road, Cardiff, CF23 5DE, on Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm.
Please note that whilst the group welcomes new members, it is not a beginners’ group. The group is open to anyone who can read music and hold a line independently on a recorder. All members of the recorder family – soprano (descant), alto (treble), tenor, bass and great bass – are represented in the group.
Besides their regular meetings, they have performed regular concerts in local care homes, and community venues, with a huge repertoire of music from the medieval to twenty-first century. The group is entirely collaborative and runs on democratic lines, with all members free to provide music of their choice and to lead playing sessions.
Our Silver Jubilee
This year sees the 25th anniversary of the Recorder Group, which was founded in October 1999. Over the years, members have moved on, members have sadly passed on, but the group has continued to meet and play and perform, extending and developing repertoire and skills along the way. One member has remained present throughout our history from the founding of the group on 13th October 1999, Corrie Weaver (fourth from left in the above photo), who has brought her quiet class to the descant section for the 25 years of the group’s existence.
