Prose & Poetry

Contact: Convenor

The Group meets at City URC Church, Windsor Place on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 14.00 – 15.30.

For future dates please check the Calendar on this page.

Each session has a designated theme and members search their bookshelves, libraries, the internet – any likely source for related prose or poetry items, or their own creations, which they can then bring to the meeting for general interest and discussion.

Subjects cover a wide range. Recently we have looked at (among other topics)

  • Time,
  • Disability,
  • Secrets,
  • Food and Drink

In recent years subjects covered have included writers worldwide, adventure, music and dancing.

As part of the session we usually have a short talk on a literary-related subject. This can be on a specific author, poet or playwright. It may be on a category of literature or literary movement. We also have a member’s Top 5 favourite reads or with a linked theme.
